Programme Pattern

Course Duration: 2 Years

Phase 1 – Academic Training (2 Years)

1st Year: Training at Marine Career Academy, India
2nd Year: Training at City of Glasgow College, United Kingdom

Phase 2 – Onboard Sea Training

12 Months Sea Service onboard sponsored merchant vessels.

Phase 3 – UK 2nd Mate Examination

Candidates appear for the 2nd Mate Examination in the UK conducted by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), UK.

Course Overview

The Advanced Diploma in Nautical Science (ADNS) programme is designed for students aspiring to become Deck Officers in the Merchant Navy.

This programme consists of approximately 52 weeks of academic training in India followed by 52 weeks at City of Glasgow College, UK.

Candidates who successfully complete their training in India with a minimum 80% attendance and pass all learning outcomes will proceed to the United Kingdom for advanced studies.

After completing academic training in the UK, candidates undergo 12 months of onboard sea training through sponsored shipping companies. Following sea service, students undergo a 2nd Mate Preparatory Programme and appear for examinations conducted by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), UK.

Upon successful completion of examinations, candidates are awarded the UK 2nd Mate License, opening pathways to officer-level careers in the global shipping industry.
